I am building a horse arean which will have substantial traffic. I must install some sort of drainage system as the surface is hard pack georgia clay and as the arena has been in use for several years and the owners have not the resources to have it regraded properly (Take down the fence pay a heavy equip operater etc.) I must go with what I have. I am considering a french drain yet I am not sure what type of traffic it can withstand. I am considering using a 4" pvc or flex pipe surrounded with fabric and 57 stone at a depth of about 18 inches. Would this type of drainage withstand the heavy pounding of horses or would it eventually be crushed? Any suggestions would be appreciated
