Anyone out there using a Pi historian for vibration analysis in the frequency domain?

I'm very novice in the world of vibration analysis software and noticed you're not a fan of using these databases for vibration analysis, can you share why to help me understand some of the issues?

I'm at a point where I'd be committing to using our PI historian or some other vibration specific package. Our Pi will be a easy sell to our IT security dept, and the most cost effective since no additional subscription, but the vibration specific software's will likely be met with pushback due to additional complexity to onboard and annual costs

Is the issue that time based databases struggle to sufficiently transform time data to frequency domain and make analysis harder or is it for other reasons not to use them as well?

Haha, yeah seems like everything devolves back to a business decision sometimes. "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in".
 
Any turing complete language can solve any solvable computing problem so no doubt you can torture PI to do what you want. But you will be writing the app from the ground up, in all probability. Do you have access to GNU/Octave (free) Matlab (cheap) or Python (free). Scripts for vibration analysis are available for all 3.
