Hello Everyone,

I am working on MSE wall design and I am looking at soils report. They gave me the type of soil, its unit weight, friction angle and cohesion. Here is where I am having a problem, is that under friction angle they just put (-) and under cohesion is 2000 psf. Does it mean the soil doesn't have shear strength?

Thanks!

The geotech provided you with undrained shear strength, i.e. phi=0 and cohesion=2,000 psf. If you want drained shear strength, you will need to ask the original geotech.
