At present we are using Autoplant and even Autodesk Inventor for Plant layouts and orthographic and isometric drawings generation. Now we are planning to move in to big boys’ league and get 'SmartPlant 3D Suite' or PDMS. Few years back our company was poised to buy one of these and I inquired about these software at that time but due to some reasons our company shelved the plan. Now again we want to get one of these. Any body can guide which one these software is better. According to my limited knowledge SmartPlant is new, more advanced, flexible as well as much more user friendly. So I am poised towards it. But I would much appreciate any opinion before making any decision.

Checkout Cadworx Pipe also. I have never used AutoPlant so I can't speak for that, but I took a couple of PDMS classes a few years ago and it had the most unfriendly user interface.
