My project engineer has specified B31.1 for all piping, and some of that pipe is FRP pipe. B31.1, Section N, Chapter V stipulates that I need a BPS (the manufactur's instructions that give times, temps, etc.) with a PQR and a BPQ. I have a BPS, the PQR is giving me a hard time. It has always been my understanding that the Bonding Procedure and the Bonder are certified at the same time, and that there is no PQR per se like there is for HDPE or other pipe welding, but that the pressure test used in the certification satisfies this requirement. Am I correct or is there an actual PQR for a Bonding Procedure Specification? Also, the bonders' certifications have typically (in my limited experience with this pipe) been the document provided by where they took their training/testing (in this case, the pipe manufacturer). My supervision is looking for a Section IX cert - again, like HDPE or other pipe welds. Am I looking for a unicorn or is there a PQR for bonding procedures that would travel WITH the procedure and does the Section IX certification include FRP bonding? I know typically this pipe is covered under 31.3, but the sections on Qualifications (N-127.5 in 31.1 and A328.2 in 31.1) are virtually identical. Any help is appreciated. TIA
