For FRP tanks, what is the difference between a type one laminate and a type two laminate?

You did not specify which document your type number comes from so it is kind of hard to answer your question. But here goes.

The only laminate type I'm aware of that is specified in a national standard for FRP is from ASME RTP-1 for FRP vessel < 15psig. In there, it specify laminate type 1 for hand layup as an all mat construction. Type 2 is a sandwich of mat-woven roving-mat construction. Read RTP-1 if you want to find out more.

You might also check into ASTM D3299 and ASTM D4097; both are directly related to FRP tanks but they are specifically for low pressure tanks. Flat bottom above ground. Good luck.
