Has anyone been using FS2000 for piping stress analysis? Any views how it compares against the Caesar II?
I have been using Caesar II and big fan of the same and hence prejudice. Appreciate if anybody has opinion in this matter.

At my work all the pipers use Caesar, all the struccies us FS2000.

Thanks Ussuri. Its a fact that Caesar II is a piping tool and FS2000 is a structural tool. Dont know personally if any company is using it for piping or not, but curious to find out.

I don't know anyone who uses it for piping analysis. It seems to cover a few codes ASME B31, PD 8010, DNV F101 and it certainly model the pipe, plus coatings, linings and contents. I expect the waveloader also works with the piping analysis.

I just think it is an extra and would do if you have nothing else but as this is what caesar was designed to do thats what gets used.

Maybe some local, one man type consultants, would use it as it saves buying two quite expensive licenses and you can use it for both structural and piping. But that would be a guess.

It's not the only structural based software with a piping analysis capability ..... Quite a simple modification to an existing beam element based package I guess.

One might question how many trained FS2000 piping users exist, and what sort of learning curve is needed for new users, given that Caesar II is the market leader. Caesar has many powerful facilities that are quickly taken for granted by the user, such is the intuitive nature of the program layout.

Yes, I'm a Caesar user !!
