I have met a lot of companies selling fuel additives and they claim improving fuel oil/equipment/emission performance. Even Petron is also selling their own brand of fuel additives and claiming the same improvements. Also there are companies selling Fuel Catalyst being installed in the fuel oil line going to the engine that they claim it changes molecular structure (HC chain) and improves fuel quality. Some questions I hope you can help me on.

Could this additives/catalyst really have the capability to improve fuel quality?
Is there any down side effect using this additives/catalyst (i.e problem on stability, compatibility and other storage and handling problems)?

Thanks and kind regards,

Do a search for previous threads. This has been discussed ad naseum and we don't need to expend bandwidth on another 80 post dissertation. You should just read the threads and decide for yourself. Its your money.

Go to the "search" function above and search for "fuel additive" in the "search posts" section and you will find 20 or 30 posts on this subject over the last few months. Read up on what has been said here before and get bact to us. I can tell you that the "over the counter" fuel additive market is flooded with products that either don't work at all or are hyped well beyond their real worth. If your search is for commercial additives in manufacturing, that is an entirely different subject.

Sorry Blacksmith. We 'kinda' doubled on that post.

I was looking specifically for info on the FITCH FUEL CATALYST. I did a search on fuel additives and fuel catalyst and found nada. Anyone have any specific info on this brand of snake oil?

All the above comments apply to the Fitch Fuel Catalyst also!

"Anyone have any specific info on this brand of snake oil?"

You just summed up everything you need to know! But if you
insist on "knowing" more, go to:

type in "Fitch Fuel Catalyst" and hit the Google Search button. Let your fun begin!

Like all good gimmicks, there is a kernal of truth to the 'story' of how it works. The mechanism is strongly reminiscent of the molecular ordering that occurs in liquid crystals, ignoring the fact that hydrocarbon molecules in gasoline are neither rigid nor polar, as liquid crystal behavior requires.
