Fuel/Air Mixture metering PRE-COMBUSTION

I'm looking for a method of metering the fuel/air mixture pre-combustion for a school project. I was tihnking of using some platinum electrodes and metering conductivity ala a breathalyzer test. I was wondering if anyone has tried something similar, knows where to find such electrodes or sensors pre-fabbed, or if there are any alternatives. It is not important to have an exact measurement of air:fuel, only that I have some value to use (I have a mass-airflow sensor before the carburetor I'm metering)

Well, the easy way is another mass flow meter or calculation from a flow velocity of the FUEL. Those are available, and with a carburetor, you don't have to measure any return flow. And since fuel is a liquid and incompressible, you don't have to worry about the fuel pressure. And the temperature effects can probably be ignored for the level of accuracy you're looking for.

I think you'll find yourself looking for something that doesn't exist in your price range if you're looking for an analyzer that reads the mixture composition of liquid (partially vaporized) fuel and air.

Dyno cells usually are equipped with such fuel measuring devices, so, look at some dyno accessory websites, and then try to find the real manufacturer of the components.
