I'm doing a performance comparison of two OEM Natural gas engines. One of the engines value is given in Nm3/hr as 297. The other product is given as 15892 Btu/hr.

Both engines are based in ISO 3046/1 standard preference condition of 25 deg C of ambient temp. and 100 KPa of total barometric pressure, 30 % rel. humidity with 0, +5% fuel tolerance.

Kindly provide a step by step approach to doing this.

thank you.

Obtain the density of the fuel under those temperature and pressure conditions.

Convert your volume flow rate to a mass flow rate.

That is probably a metric number, so do a units conversion to old English units - still a mass flow rate.

Obtain the heating value of the fuel in old English units. (The only uncertainty here will be whether to use the higher heating value or the lower heating value, but it won't be a large difference.)

Do the conversion.

Umm, define "large"
Otherwise, spot on! [thumbsup2]
