Guys,

is there any way to calculate how much fuel gas (MMSCFD) I need to have for example 1.4375e+07 Btu/hr of heat flow. The gas composition/temperature/pressure are known. I'd like to do it through the Hysys as the mix is very complex.

Certainly I can comply the material balance and then to calculate the heat of combustion for each component (USING THEIR ENTHALPY). Or there is the easier method to calculate the total combustion heat?

thanks,
Joisy

Hysys does (usually) calculate the higher and lower heating value for a stream. Unfortunately, for some reason it doesn't list this in the 'Properties' tab in v2.4.1.

To find the value, right click on your gas stream and select 'Show table'. Double click on the table and select 'Add Variable'. Scroll down until you come to higher or lower heating heating value as required.
