Fuel savings v Sprung weight reduction

I am doing a project and trying to discover a formula to calculate the consequent fuel saving/ mile for every kg reduced on the all up weight of a vehicle. ie if the bucket on an excavator is reduced in weight by 97% what kind of fuel saving will I get as a result?
