Hi,
Please anybody tell me how the Fuller's Formula is derived for finding grading curve for aggregates?

I am going onn memory here p=d/Dexponent n where d =partilce size in question D =maximum particle size and n can vary. The description is parabolic. You can obtain more information from NCHRP report in around 1960 to 1970 I think. The relation ship is to provide gradings with max density. exponent n =.5 or.7 tends to give such

Please check out the literature as this may give better decription of derivation.

Good Luck

VAD - are you thinking of the 0.45 power chart by FHWA?? You raise each log value by power 0.45. Then when you start at 100% passing at say 25mm, connect to "zero" and you get the maximum density. See references containing superpave (try Army Corps of Engineer's HMA Design Book).
[cheers]

[blush] - not maximum density but the "most" dense mix.
