Gage Jig Material Selection

I recieved a drawing for some gaging jigs that need to be made, but I don't know if I agree with the material that was chosen...

S45C steel was chosen, seems way to soft to be used for a gage jig (we have been using jo-blocks but are making a custom jig)

I am looking for a better material, something similar or exactly the same as what jo-blocks are made of. Does anyone know what type of steel jo-blocks are made of or some other material commonly used for gage blocks?

Why do you feel your inspection fixture requires a hard material? I imagine a dimensionally stable material would be more desirable.

Tool steels are normally used for tool and gage pieces. Something like A2 or D2, quenched and tempered to high hardness and good dimensional stability. High hardness provides wear resistance, which is needed when metal parts are constantly handled, slid together, engaged, etc.
