Galvanic Corrosion between 304SS & A36

We are currently working on a press system that will be using both 304SS and A36 steel. The 304SS will be used for a platen and the A36 will be used for the bolster plate. These will be pressed together to condense a wood fiber product and the heat will be provided using steam. Due to the conditions, we were notified of potential galvanic corrosion after repeated use.

Two questions - will galvanic corrosion occur even with the condensed wood fiber being between the two types of metal? Also, if galvanic corrosion will occur, what sort of protective coating could be used?

Note - We cannot chrome plate due to the use of sodium hydroxide

If the wood product is wet then corrosion is likely.
If there are any trace Chlorides in the wood then corrosion of the SS is also likely.
I would think that the carbon steel would require some coating to reduce corrosion.
You could plate with Electroless Ni (and bake afterwards).
You didn't give us a temp so I don't know what resin coatings would be suitable.
