Galvanic Corrosion of Aluminum - Best method (s) for isolation?

Hi,

I am looking into using 5052 aluminum in a marine atmosphere
environment and am wondering how to eletrically isolate it
from the stainless steel structures it will be fastened to.
The connections will for the most part be bolted.

Are there special bolt sleeves/isolators etc commonly used
for shipbuilding problems of this nature?

Any info (or info on where to start looking) would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jason White

For light loading we use proseal to isolate the galvanic corrosion. It lasts ~5 years in a marine enviroment. For longer times we use Delrin or teflon. Higher loads you need to consider a structural bedding compound. We use Dynamold (see there web site) for these in marine application with high loads.

I HAVE TO FASTEN A "60/61" 2" X 2" X .25" ALUMINUM ANGLE TO CEDAR IN A PIECE OF OUTDOOR FURNITURE. WHAT FASTENERS WILL NOT INTERACT WITH THE ALUMINUM WHEN IT IS WET AND DRY AND HOT AND COLD ETC. I AM ASSUMING STAINLESS BUT WOULD RATHER BE SURE
