Galvanic corrosion on carbon fiber yachts

Hi there,

I would like to find out if there are any preventative measures for galvanic corrosion on carbon fiber vessels. More specifically, it seems that carbon fiber, when in contact with aluminium for instance, could cause galvanic corrosion. A follow-up question would then be: Can carbon fiber cause stainless screws/bolts to corrode as well, assuming both materials are exposed to seawater?

Crevice corrosion will be a larger problem as it's already an issue in non-conductive substrates such as fiberglass.

Use Ti with C fiber like they do in aerospace.
Coupled to Al is a guaranteed disaster, and common SS alloys will not stand a chance either.
The only real options to mate with CF in wet environments are high alloy SS (6% Mo superaustenitic or superduplex) or Ti alloys.

Carbon fiber must not contact most metals in wet environments. Insulating washers and bushings will work.

I use Teadit 24BB gasket tape between any flanged connections of similar or dissimilar materials on my boats.
