Dear all,

I would kindly ask for information please.
Does anyone know in which USA code (e.g. NFPA, ASHRAE etc) I could find what is the min. distance between floor and MEP instalations in garages?
Additionally, any similar experiences from UAE?

Thanks muchly.

Hi Don,

Thanks for references.

I think more applicable is IBC 406.2.2 (this is the 2003 version - I didn't have the 2006 handy). This requires a 7 foot clearance height. I think the 7½ feet is more for people spaces vs. parking garages. Probably just keep all MEPs above 7' and keep any perimeter fans, etc. protected from cars.

Yes, did not think to look there. Here is the reference:

2006 IBC
406.2.2 Clear height. The clear height of each floor level in vehicle and pedestrian traffic areas shall not be less than 7 feet (2134 mm). Vehicle and pedestrian areas accommodating van-accessible parking required by Section 1106.5 shall conform to ADAAG
