Hi friends. I hope someone could help. Is a common practice to fill gas reciprocating compresor suction and interstage srubbers with some liquid at the bottom during commissioning and before an initial start up ???

not that i'm aware of. what does the mfg state? what type, make, model of compressor?

Hi Mover, The compressor is an engine-driven reciprocating compressor, Ariel JGC-6, for natural gas compression of 27 MMSCFD. (Natural Gas booster service).

I would like to know if there is an standard o best practice that state that is mandatory to fill de bottom of the scrubbers in order to create a liquid seal, and what is the main reason to create it.

This scrubbers doesn't have Low level alarm or something like that.

I really appreciate any comments or recomendation.

It is not neccesary in any case. Curious though, how will these be drained- manually, control valve, or trap?

My opinion...

What is the intended failure position of the scrubber dump valves (automated assumed) and where do they dump to? I imagine that if they are functioning properly, they are closed at low level, so the liquid seal becomes unnecessary; there are also, presumably, check valves between the scrubbers and the drain system, so that the compressor is always preferentially drawing its suction from the (assumed) inlet separator as opposed to from the (assumed) hydrocarbon drain tank or (alternately assumed) FKOD. If the dump valve control loops have been rung out and proper actuation has been thereby demonstrated during precommissioning, then whether or not you pre-fill the scrubbers for commissioning & start-up probably doesn't matter.
 
no need to put liquid in the scrubbers, as a matter of fact, any liquid you put in would be vaporized into the gas being processed through the compressor, I don't think you want that fluid in your fuel system.

Snorgy..Yes, There are check valves installed downstream each scrubber liquid drain, and all the liquids drains of the scrubbers are directed to a closed drain pipe and then to oil production facilities (external). Thank you very much. All the comments are very helpful

Thanks dcasto, of course I don't want any liquids entrained from niether fuel gas scrubbers nor interstage scrubbers :) ........ Long time no see , its nice to see you here again. What about Montemayor ?
