Dear All,

Can you help with this matter, it has been sometime since doing this calculation for estimate gas load factor for sizing or rating separator for oil/gas separation

1- Gas load factor is the gas velocity (superficial) using the minimum available gas flow area, that is the separator area above the LLHH, is this true?
2- What is the maximum gas load factor for bulk 2-phase separation?
3- does the max gas load factor change if the vapor outlet has a demister or vane pack?

The only gas load factor I've ever heard of was peak demand vs average demand for gas networks.

For a separator you usually try to determine the required residence time or superficial gas velocity to allow droplets to fall into the liquid below.

There are many inlet and outlet devices which improve on this - e.g.
To be fair this has a graph with gas load factor on an axis so maybe is a thing also associated with separators.

Are you referring to K, the separation factor, in:
