right, this is probably something really simple, but as part of my uni work i need to calculate co2 emmissions for a gas turbine, and i am really stuck about what to do.

i dont expect a full written disription from anyone, but i was wondering if someone could give me a few pointers about books that would help as i cant find anything in the ones i have.

i appreciate any time you give towards this.

cheers

It will be easier to answer your question if you say what fuel you want to use in your gas turbine...

Ronweiser:

The USa Environmental Protection Agency publication AP-42, "Compilation of Air Pollutant Emission Factors" is available online. The pertinent section for stationary gas turbine emissions is at:
www.epa.gov/ttn/chief/ap42/ch03/final/c03s01.pdf

The two primary gas turbine fuel types are (1) natural gas and (2) distillate oils (i.e., diesel oil, etc). The above reference also includes landfill gas and digester gas as fuels.

The CO2 emissions given (in Table 3.1-2a of the above reference) for a natural gas fuel are based on 99.5% conversion of fuel carbon to CO2, and the distillate oil CO2 emissions are based on 99.0 % conversion of fuel carbon to CO2.

The various Tables in the above reference include other emissions such as NOx, CO, SO2, VOC, and PM for each of the fuel types.

You should be able to get some emissions data from the GT OEM.
