I am currently using argon to mig weld 304 and 316 stainless steel. The stainless is 18 GA. Should I be using a gas mixture instead of straight argon?

I do not regularly work with stainless that often. Should I consider buying a TIG welder for the stainless?

Thanks

THe 100% Argon should work fine. A mixed gas will give you a hotter and deeper penetrating arc. For your thickness those are not needed.

We usually use TIG for sheet metal work, it depends on the quality and type of welding if the investment is worth while.
