Hi there, just wondering what is the right gasket design and material of constuction for 1200 Deg C application. This partucular one is on the reactor with 2200 MM dia. currently NEFALIT which is a refractory sheet is used as gasket, since it is used in pieces it is not very effective. The pressure inside the reactor is negative. The intention is to use a single piece gasket but material like inconel has max design temp 1100. does any one has any experience of using similar material. regards

All sort of ceramic seals can be used as gaskets (and are available from many suppliers world wide). Try google for ceramic seals and select one in your area which seems to be a serious supplier and who can guarantee their supply. Then discuss technical details regarding the typical large gaskets issues, including transport and replacement gaskets, handling the soft and brittle materials, etc...

You might want to look at the Armotec products from Intec that can take your temperatures. We used a product similar to Tecsil for seal at and above your stated temperature. They mention Nextel 312 for there rope product that will also take the temperature. There is Nextel 440 which is made into high temperature sleeving up to 2500F. I don't know if it is being made into a rope.
We used similar products made into rope using Rene 41 as the metal support. They were expensive but they worked.
