I seem to be getting mixed answers on choosing a gasket material to meet NEMA 4x and 12 requirements, along with outdoor exposure,sunlight but I need to keep costs down. Viton is out of the question. I am caught between vinyl nitrile or neoprene. Anyone thoughts?

Don't use nitrile, it cannot withstand ozone (atmospheric) attack.
