hello all,

We are going to install valves in a drainageline from a vessel with 650 psi.
The rating of the valves is a 600 but we are not sure of what kind of valves to use. The normal operation will be on/off service.
The fluid is basically water but could be some oil and sometimes minimum solids dissolved.
In my understanding, ball valves are better than gate ones for this service but I would like you to confirm this.
Thank you and best regards,

Yorch

sure Ball Valves are better for that kind off-on service. easy to actuate, quarter turn actaution is quick, easy repairable........

Yorch,
From my 20 years experience in maintenance, ball valve is better than gate valve for your application.
Pay attention to use the right gasket.

Ball or Plug valves would be your best option for this kind of duty, one thing to look out for is the cost of the operator (can be more than the valve), floating type ball valves normally need pretty big operators.
