Question on API 6A Gate valve PR2 qualification requirements;

if the requirement is to develop just a PR2 Gate valve without the mention of Annex F, does the valve still need to qualify Annex F temperature cycles?
or, does it qualify to be sold as PR2 by meeting 200 ambient seat test cycles as per section 10.5.2 of API 6A 20th edition?
Please advise.

Annex F is only required if specified by the manufacturer or the purchaser. Therefore, the valve qualifies to be sold as PR2 by meeting the 200 operating cycles requirement in Table 66 without any Annex F temperature cycles. Note that API 6A does not define operating cycle. 200 seat tests, opening the valve at the end of each seat test, is probably a reasonable way of meeting the 200 operating cycles requirement.

Many purchasers seem to assume that PR2 also means Annex F. This is incorrect, but it is a common misconception, and it would be a good idea to discuss with your customer.

Thanks a lot for your advise. appreciate this quick help.
