GE AK Power Breakers Microversatrip Arc Flash Question

I have switchgear with GE AK breakers. In doing calculations(SKM Software), I have determined that if I reduce the instantaneous setting to 1.5 I can limit the arc flash exposure. My question is if I can turn the dial while the breaker is energized.

Sure it will reduce the arc flash hazard, but will your system still operate or will you be tripping everything on inrush anytime you have to reenergize?

That's why I'm asking whether it can be done energized. I only want to reduce the arc flash hazard for the 2 or 3 hours it takes to do the work. Then the settings would be returned to where they were.

70E discusses doing this and there needs to be (I paraphrase here) some sort of engineering controls for this method, most people retrofit them with AC PRO trip units (Or similar) and use the quick trip function with padlockable switch for the engineering controls. We do hundreds of these a year.

Typically the instructions associated with any particular trip unit will provide a warning about changing settings when energized.
Stating the trip unit type and model number may garner better information.
