we have a job that calls out a pressure angle of 14.5° V.C.D.
can anyone tell me what the V.C.D. stands for?

There is probably a difference between the pressure angle as manufactured and the operating pressure angle. Do a search for "profile shift" and "operating pressure angle".

Hmm... I've never seen VCD on a customer print, but without any more information I would be looking into VCD = variable center distance.

14.5° is probably the theoretical/manufactured pressure angle, from there the operating pressure angle would depend on the center distance between the two members.
