Does anyone know about a Technical Paper/Document in which advantages or disadvantages of Geared Turbofan (Such as TFE-731 Enigine) are analyzed?

Please let me know if you have found anything on your question from other avenues.

My interest is in the ever increasing BPR's, optimal fan rotational speeds, simplifying the core engine, reducing complexity like gearing and the possibility of using other means like free turbine concepts.
