there seem to be a lot of gells most likely mixtures of propylene glycol and water that freeze at temperatures below 32 degrees F, so you have a colder temperature source than regular ice, plus some latent heat capacity.
Out of curiosity, are there commercially available gells that would change state (thaw) somewhere from 34 to 40F with a decent latent heat?
Take the "V" out of HVAC and you are left with a HAC(k) job.
