Hello,

What is considered a "general service" pump in downstream refining? I would have thought any utilities, water services, etc. are considered general service, but the terminology is also mentioned in API 610 when referring to inspection levels.

Thanks.

A general service pump is a pump designed to cover a wide duty and application base using the minimum of pump models by maximizing interchangeability of components.

Hello bimr,

Would that mean the definition is independent of process conditions?
