Read up on Text Templates.
I think they'll be exactly what you need.
The Help files have everything you need to know.
No macro necessary.

hi Garzar..

honestly.. i have tried everything from reading help files to digging in forums.. to the best of my ability! :(

but i m unable to figure out the solution!!

Could you be more specific.. it would b really helpful.

Abhi, here are the steps to do it manually:

1. open the drawing and the parent assembly
2. switch to the drawing window, and activate the view to contain the balloon
3. click the Text With Leader icon
4. select the arrowhead location
5. click the balloon location
6. ignore the Text panel, right-click inside the dotted rectangle where the text will go and select the "Attribute Link" option (might have to move the Text panel and zoom-in to click inside the dotted rectangle)
7. switch windows to the parent assembly
8. select the part instance in the tree (CATIA will switch back to the drawing window and display a long list of attributes)
9. expand the attribute columns to see the entire names and scroll down to select Nomenclature attribute (easier to go to the bottom and scroll up to find Nomenclature). Click OK to use selected attribute.
10. attribute will appear in Text panel. Click OK again.
11. select the Text and add the Oblong frame

hi Jack,

Thanks a lot :) really detailed and helpful!

i implemented it.. and it was great!!

BUT.. i repeated the steps for almost 30 Parts now.. and more than 500 parts to go :(

its too Exhausting.. can this be automated through a macro ??? if yes.. then i request for one :|

it would save hell lot of time.

I can only automate by recording :p (only that good with a macro!)

Thanks again :)
