Generating Drawings.

Hello,

Simple question: We're almost there, only 2 package left to decide : Wildfire m2 and Sw 2004.

Which software generates the quickest a drawing And section view of a large assembly. I do not mean how easy (many clicks) it is, just how long does the cpu take untill you get the generated views.

Lightweight in SW is useless because if you want make a section view of the main view, SW has to load every part. it's just nice for getting some quick viewings on te drawing but you can't do anything with it.

If I had to choose between Wildfire and SW 2004, I would pick SW 2004. I currently use Pro/E 2001 and refuse to upgrade to Wildfire.

to my knowledge both packages need to load the data into memory to get a cross section. It's a matter of which package has the tools to simplify the process. Pro/E has simplied reps which is extremely powerful for large assemblies. And I'm not sure what SW 2004 has to offer since we're still on 2003 sp5

To conserve CPU, you can make a new drawing, with one view in the drawing for the section you want, and use the simpl rep you want ... only the simpl rep parts are loaded in RAM. The view is wholy usable.

You can also save the display upon exiting and the parts appear the next time you load the drawing into RAM.

But...if you have made any changes to the parts, you need to update the views and sheets to reflect the changes. This wa only s a quick viewer before loading all the parts in RAM. For printing accurracy, you must update the drawing on screen because it will create a plot file of the updated parts. The plotting output could surprise you.

Doesn't pro-e update his drawing views automaticly when changing some parts?
