I'm hoping someone here can help me. I am a designer of sheet metal stamping dies. The company I now work for is getting ready to start designing in Catia. I am making standard components in part catalogs, each part driven by design tables. The problem I am having is that I want to generate new part files for each component on a couple of the families so I can use the powercopies in them individually. There is a help topic "Generating Resolved Parts from Parametric Parts" that covers how to do it. The help file shows that you can create them by using a command prompt to run "CATCloGenerateResolvedParts.bat". I followed the instructions in the help file to the letter and I keep getting an error that it cant find the executable setcatenv. Does anyone here have any experience with doing this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I forgot to mention that I am new to Catia. I originally used Unigraphics and part families are a bit different than in Catia, so there may be a bit of a terminology gap. I think I may have had my question answered by searching through the forums about resolving catalog parts. does resolving catalog parts do the same thing as the command prompt thing I mentioned in the last post?

Teabags - it certainly does - I think the resolved catalog would be easier. In Tools -- Options -- Infrastructure -- Catalog Editor. Set the option Allow Family component...
The parts will be created here when you resolve the catalog.
I resolve the items that will be under heavy use. To resolve the catalog set the Resolution mode to Descriptions will be resolved under the Family definition menu.
Note - Do you have the PartNumber setup in the excel sheet?

Derek
