I have seen a SLD where the Generator has a dedicated control & protection panel and the generator feeds the MV Switchgear wherein the Incoming panel has also many protection functions associated with it.

The question is what are the protection functions typically used at the Generator control panel and at the Incoming panel?

Typically for 10 kV generator side we use follow protection: 50,51,59,27,32,40,46,81H/L,50N,69R,51V,87G.
For 10 kV incomer side: 67, 67N (direction in generator)

It's going to depend on the situation and how the generators are operated. If the local system is tied to the grid in a cogeneration scheme, the serving utility will likely have requirements for protection of the intertie, with the main objective being to isolate local generators from the grid for grid-side fault and to make sure the local generators cannot become islanded with a portion of the grid. Intertie protection will rely heavily on undervoltage, frequency, and perhaps directional overcurrent relaying, at least IME. But there are many other possible scenarios depending on local generator ability to carry the local load if the grid is lost.
