hi
I have a Metropolitan Vickers 5MW generator that i want to sell as scrap. I would like to know a rule of thumb or formula for estimating the Quantity of copper in the rotor and stator as well as the ratio of stator weight to rotor weight.

Rule of thumb: find out what a modern one weighs, then double it.

There's an outside chance that one of the successor companies to the old GEC business units might have some information. If you're contacting them you probably shouldn't mention that you're cutting up their machine for scrap. [wink]
