Genset neutral bonding

For mobile or stationary generators producing high or low Y or Delta is it necessary to have the neutral bonded to the generator frame and a earth ground when performing a load bank test for personal safety.

The neutral doesn't have to be earthed if your system is designed for ungrounded operation. The generator frame should be earthed.

Personally I think ungrounded systems should be used in only a very few applications where there are sufficiently robust maintenance procedures in place to allow it to operate safely and where the few benefits outweigh the many drawbacks.

What voltage are you thinking about? Are there any loads connected line-neutral?

Yes for Y. Delta will have no neutral, but it will require other precautions to be taken as Scotty says.

When dealing with rental equipment or temporary arrangements taking precautions for safety becomes even more critical as you may be dealing with unknown quantities and accidents are more likely to happen.
