Hey guy/gals. Just wondering if any of you are in the industry of designing/certifying glass balustrades and what quoting system you use?
My current issues are:
- High risk compared to a normal project.
- The balustrades are normally certified as a single system and this can range from 3m to over 1000m. There's not much more work involved in the 1000m compared to the 3m. Both are just checking and certifying one glass thickness and fixing method.
- Testing reports are of poor quality which introduces significant risk. For example, testing reports that I see don't take into account variability in glass strengths. They also only test one panel so the coefficient of variation cannot be accurately obtained. Furthermore, they do not test to failure so I don't know how close to failure the balustrade is.
Wondering how people quote on these jobs...
