What are you building? There are some standards of practice for glass guardrails and things. General glazing structural design is a bit more of a black art, but I think I have a list of references somewhere. I think there's some reasonable stuff out there for curtain walls. If it's something other than that, you're starting to get into uncharted territory a bit.
Some starting points for standards include:
EGBC Practice Guideline: Designing Guards for Building Projects
ASTM E1300
CAN/CGSB-12.20-M89 Structural Design of Glass for Buildings (Withdrawn but still referenced)
CSA A500
It had looked like CGSB-12.20 was dead, but there's a revision in progress now.
I have literally never done glass design, though. I just look at it occasionally and then decide it's not worth the hassle.
