Our original design shows a skylight on top of 3m by 3m opening formed out of a 20cm RC Slab. At the edges of this opening we provided 60cm RC parapet to bury bolts for receiving plates with RHS Post. The client has requested us to change the skylight to glass walkway excluding the parapet. (Has to be in the same horizontal level with the RC floor). But, for some reason the contractor already cast the slab around the opening (excluding the parapet).
My solutions were:
1. Using expansion bolts for plate welded on RHS but i didn't want to use expansion bolts on a 3mx3m public glass walkway (it is on a public plaza project (outdoor) & there is a parking underground)
2. Dig 60mm from the slab and put RHS 60mmx60mmx4.5mm at every 3m. But I will have only (200mm-60mm) = 140mm for the support.
So, So my question is, what would you do if it were you?
