Dear friends:

I am designing an HVAC system requiring 30% (volume)ethylene glycol/ or propylene glycol water solution.

Do you know any water glycol pump manufacturer reated to this kind of cooling system?

Cooling water flow is 72 GPM, head 110 ft. H2O. temperature 54.00 ºF

Thanks in advance.

Standard HVAC hydronic pumps can deal with this. There is no "special pump" required to deal with a glycol solution in typical HVAC applications. And use propylene glycol- more envronmentally friendly. All you really have to watch out for is the system head (friction) effects, and the heat transfer de-rating for coils etc. due to the glycol solution.

Typical HVAC hydronic pump manufacturers:

Bell & Gosset,

Taco,

Armstrong,

Blue, Green and Red.

Quick question GMcD, why the caveat to use P.Glycol rather than E.Glycol?

P glycol might be non toxic, but you could argue about the enviromental benefits as it requires more pumping energy and results in a larger performance degrade for most chillers and terminal equipment.

Having said that, I use P.glycol whenever there might be a crossover (domestic hot water) or if I'm concerned that someone might try and drink the glycol.

Is P.Glycol easier to dispose of than E.Glycol?

Yeah, P.Glycol is a lot easier to deal with for handling and disposal. I would quibble about the pumping energy and de-rating of terminal heat transfer given that most applications are for not more than 30% solutions which don't present "much" system effect. My definition of "much" is: less than a 7.5% effect, give or take.
