I am looking for recommendations to upgrade my concrete text book to go with recent code updates and new design procedures. Are there any particular books that I should look to first?
I like "Notes on ACI 318-02 Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete" by PCA. It has lots of examples with emphasis on revisions from earlier codes and areas where they sense some confusion on code interpretation.
An excellent reference is Design of Reinforced Concrete, 5th Edition, by Jack McCormac available through ASCE Website. Reflects all code requirements per ACI 318 and interpretations.
I have both MacGregor and McCormac books. I like practical books like McCormac. It is not as thorough, but seems to be written with the student or practicing engineer in mind.
