Good day all

we have a sundyne pump LMV 322, he have install new mechanical seal and performing hydrostatic test in the workshop , the problem we facing is that when we reach 6 to 7 bar , we have a pop sound inside the pump and water start coming out through port 2 and 7 . what i will like to know is if we doing the test correctly and if not , please can someone provide the proper steps to be followed , and the actual test pressure for the mechanical seal .

What is the configuration of the mechanical seal? Ports 2 and 7 are designed for buffer fluid in and out if there are dual seals. If there is a single seal, these would be above the single seal, but below the disaster bushing. If this is a dual pressurized seal arrangement, then you will need to pressurize the buffer fluid chamber before conducting your test. If this is a single seal, then I cannot say what may have happened. Please provide the seal arrangement and the seal piping plan.
