Good laptop for 2001 and WF

I am looking at getting a laptop for both 2001 and WF. I dont plan to use it for heavy assemblies or FEA type work. Most assemblies would be under 1000 components.

What experience have you had with the various models from IBM, HP and Dell?

I've been running a Dell Precision M50 for over two years. It runs Pro/E (2001 thru WF2) quite well, although it isn't crash-proof.

My biggest beefs with my laptop are its weight and the heat it generates when it's sitting on my lap.

The newer generations (M70 and M20) should run Pro/E quite well, but they also probably cost a pretty penny.

I use mobile workstation hp compaq nw8000 for both ProE Wf 2.0 and Catia V5 and i think that it works really great.

The new mobile workstation hp compaq nw8240 (the nw 8000 successor) gives good value for your money.

I'm running 2001 on a Insprion 9300 with the NVIDIA GoForce 6800 256MB card - no issues since May of this year. Love the machine - been what I've been looking for to run Pro since '97.

Machine is BIG (17" screen is really nice) - I still haven't found a good bag for it yet.

I haven't had to travel with it yet - just back and forth to the office, but I have a trip to Italy the end of the month, and we'll see how it makes out. It's about a pound heavier than an old Dell I was using (non-pro machine) that I found tiring in the airports. We'll see...
