One of CAD users is having graphics issues in an assembly, we have tried to change every preference we can think of both in visualization and vizualization performance with no joy what so ever. I have attached a JPG file. It seems only to be in one particular assembly and native NX is fine. Any ideas please?

Best regards

Simon,

First what is different between the a machine that works and the one that does not? Otherwise if it fails on multiple machines then it must be down to software, or something about that part or assembly.

It has the approximate appearance of two models one over the top of the other. Go into Assemblies Advanced Representations and check that there aren't any created in the assembly file. Change all the reference sets to the solid or the facet and back to see what effect it has. Run part cleanup.
Hide (Blank) components and make them visible one at a time to see if one of the components has some effect that is fouling the display for itself and/or others.
Check the contents of the reference sets for some of the components if necessary deleted the faceted representations and recreate all reference sets in of the affected components. Run part cleanup on each component as you go.

Those are all my guesses at what it might be the image was not so clear or definitive as to be sure what the problem is. You may find that changing views helps. Also have a look at how the shading tolerances are set under visualization settings>faceting "standard" should be the go.

Looks like it could be opening either a faceted representation of the assy or possibly a jt file instead of the assy file.

Hello Mark

No, it's none of those as I originaly thought the same, however it is a full model with the correct solid data set.

Simon,

Check the contents of the solid reference set (you said data set). I'm still wondering if somebody hasn't managed to add faceted representations to the wrong data set. You can do that manually if you try, so it is just possible that that could be the problem. Probably unlikely but possible.

I have experienced this with pre-NX versions of solids, maybe V11. What I did to fix the display was to change the layout to 4-view, then changed it back to single view. Just a thought.

View->Operation->Reganerate Work will solve ur problem, I feel.

While it's possible that a full-screen regeneration may solve the problem, if you're working in perspective, you may also wish to try and reset the front and rear clipping planes as well. Prior to NX 5, you do that from Preferences -> Visualization -> Perspective. Starting in NX 5, you do that in View -> Camera -> Edit...

View > regenerate work was the first thing we tried but it doesn't work.

John

I'll try that when I get back in tomorrow morning.
