Dear all,

I would like to know if anyone knows of Graphite based coatings that can be aplied by spray (or projection at high velocity), for the purpose of reducing the friction between a steel surface and a plastic one.
I know already other types of coatings but either they are done By PVD or by electrolytical processes. I'm not interested in these ones.
And what about a mixture between Teflon and Graphite is it possible to be done by spray? is the purpose of very low friction attainnable? and finnaly where can i find this tyoe of coatings?

Best regards

Paulo

I believe I spec'd one from McMaster Carr, it was a small 10 oz can or about.

I don't have the source but there has been much testing (tribology) about your situation and the basic solution is to specify the correct surface finish. Believe it or not, smoother isn't better.
