Graphite gasket sheet reinforcement ( Wire Mesh reinforcement Vs Tanged Insert Reinforcement) 1

Hello,
I am procuring gasket sheet for different equipment's used in refinery. The specifications are as follows:

Size: 2m X 1.5M X 3mm Thick
Material: Graphite sheet reinforced with SS316 Wire mesh
Specification; As per ASTM F36 A
MAX Working Pressure: 200bar
MAX working Tepmrature: 500 Centigrade
Type: Soft Cut

Some suppliers are quoting for gasket sheet reinforced with Tanged insert Stainless steel instead of wire mesh reinforcement. How may I confirm from any applicable code that which type of reinforcement is better or both type of reinforcement is acceptable under different pressure and temperature conditions. Please identify the difference of both based on their pressure bearing capacity and which is more better among the two options.

Codes are not organized nor written to act as cookbook to work from. The details you require are therefore not found in codes or standards. In case of lack of experience, your best bet is to find an expert on such matter, which may be the manufacturer of gaskets.

The answer is simply "it depends".

Without knowing details of the application or the original intent of the equipment or piping gasket specifier, there is no way to know. Suggest that you procure gaskets identical in construction to what is being replaced.
