There is a gray box over where I need to click in solidworks explorer.

SW 2009 SP 4.1
Windows 7 x64

Anyone seen this before? I rebooted and it won't go away. All I want to do is add a new folder to the search folders in solidworks explorer.

Run a repair on your SW installation.

That doesn't look like a box 'over' the SW Explorer; it looks more like an incomplete screen refresh.

Have you run a SolidWorks Rx Diagnostic?

thanks for the replies

I did both suggestions with no luck.. installing SW 2010 now.. SW website says SW 09 doesn't work with windows 7.. but SW 10 does. Will report back

upgrading to 2010 fixed it! BUT I have another issue.. all thumbnails show up like the attached picture when I try to view them large.. if I change the setting to tiny they all view as parts but when making large I get stupid blocks

Stupid blocks? As the man said, "Stupid is is stupid does." I think these show the default SW part thumbnail because a windows icon is not available to SWExplorer. This may be because the file has not gone thru a file save cycle, or viewing thumbnail graphics in windows may not be enabled. I just noticed old version files show a smooth 'stupid' thumbnail, but after I have done a save as new version I get a blocky thumbnail. Hmmm.
I will be interested to know why this fails in MS Explorer and SW Explorer.

sorry for calling it stupid blocks haha.. perhaps my recent working in SDRCideas/Catia/NX5 has me frustrated. Happy to be back in SW (till I have to go back to the others of course)

We have seen something similar with SW 2009 and Windows 7 x64. I chalked it up to 2009 not being supported on Windows 7. The workaround that we used was to create the folders in Windows Explorer and then specify a full path in the file name box.
