Greases for CV joints

Does any one have an intimate knowledge of the greases that are currently used in cv joints ? I would guess they are generally special formulations and so the manufacturers wont be giving out details.

I think cvj greases will perform well in a completely unconnected application which has similar contact stresses and fretting tendencies to a cv joint application. If the formulations sound ok, I'd probably buy a joint from an automaker and carry out a test on the grease.

This is a lonely board! Greases are not my strong point, but I was recently introduced to polyurea greases that are interesting. Give them a search.

I used to work for a CV joint manufacturer and one of the greases I remember we used was Rykon (can't remember which one).But a search on the Chevron website shows Rykon 1426 as approved by GM for CV joints.I'll check my stuff at home and see if I have any other CV grease information.
