Grinder/Mill/Sander/Buffer from Schutte GmbH. I'm looking at one for a machining and brushing application (hopefully to combine ops and bring the project in-house rather than outsourcing to multiple vendors). Does anybody have any experience with this style of machine or the company's products in general? I have an initial meeting with the rep this afternoon to discuss the application. I'm just curious if there are any pitfalls to the process I might want to know about before hand.

Hi tripleZ,

There's a Schutte WU50 in my workshop that's had heavy use for 20 years and has been excellent throughout. It's still on the original spindle bearings and slides despite being used with coolant which was something of an afterthought for this machine. The only parts it has required are the bed infeed threaded shaft and block - fair enough after 20 years of going back and forth! It's only real fault is the dividing head which is cumbersome and only partially graduated +-15 degrees.

Parts availability is good and support is also good. The manuals are informative and they also publish more in depth books on subjects such as tool and cutter grinding.

Best of luck,

Chris.
